Sandra Alford Wells (age 75) of Smyrna, Georgia passed away on August 19th, 2024. Sandra was born on May 17th, 1949 to Clifford Owen Alford and Duane Looser Alford. She grew up with
her sisters Donna and Doris. After Sandra graduated from LaGrange High School in 1967, she went on to study Business at West Georgia College and later earned her Bachelor’s of General Studies at the University of Maryland. Sandra worked hard in many roles throughout her life, including nineteen years of service at Publix; though she was most proud of her family.
Sandra lived in Smyrna, GA in the same house for most of her life, and she loved her home very much. Sandra valued her family and her faith above all. She drew strength from her faith in God, and her home is full of verses which encourage and instruct. Sandra was a devoted mother to her three children Katharine, Joseph, and Elizabeth. She did not hesitate to make huge life sacrifices so that she could provide a safe and stable home for her children. She instilled strong values and work ethic in her children and always taught them to support each other. Sandra believed in hard work, and she was an independent, smart, and capable woman.
In her later years, Sandra took so much joy in being a grandmother. She loved to spend time reading and playing with her grandkids and visiting her family in LaGrange. She was extremely close with her mom, and they especially enjoyed watching old movies together. She had a special place in her heart for family traditions and activities, like picking out the Christmas tree together each year. She took great joy in hosting Christmas at her house, making her well-loved chicken pesto and ensuring everyone’s favorite special treats were in their stockings.
Sandra is now at peace with her parents C.O. and Duane. She is survived by her two sisters, three children, and ten grandchildren who all love her and miss her very much. Her legacy of family bonding and sacrificing for her loved ones will live on for many years.
Services will be held at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange, Georgia on Saturday, August 31st at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization Sandra strongly believed in and supported. Tunnel to Towers Foundation is committed to honoring the dignity of American Service Members and the sacrifice of first responders by providing support to military and first responder families.
We love you, Sandra, Mom, Gammy, G.
